For older systems, it's whatever as that systems library is either no longer available or the active audience on them is so small that it doesn't really make a dent. For a modern currently supported system, that's a whole other ball game. For lower income folk or those who just can't get access to these platforms, I honestly don't blame in the slightest. I think the legality arguement is over stated. Sure in the West it's a legitimate arguement, but I live in a country that has no such laws. I can go right now to my local shopping mall, buy a jail broken PS4 or Switch and fill it with games. Even in the West let's be real, it's not the legality that people are genuinely bothered about it's the morality. But the legality arguement continually comes up in these types of threads. As someone who owns Metroid Dread it's awesome and owns hundreds of games across multiple platforms, I'm with Steph on this.

The preservation thing is also really funny like everyone is running museums or archives in their basement. I am not against emulators generally though, I think they rule.
